Return a position on the current mesh beneath the mouse.
If the mouse cursor is over a position on the currently set mesh then this function returns that position.
If there is no position under the mouse or no current mesh is set then the function returns an explicitly invalid position. (The cell for the position is set to -1.)
If there is more than one layer of overlapping geometry under the mouse then the function returns the
position on the closest layer.
The result is cached for a given frame, so it is ok to make multiple calls to this functions.
